Sonia McDonald

Sonia McDonald is a qualified Child & Youth Worker; she is a Cambrian College graduate with over ten years experience working with youth of all ages and is a professional, certified member of the Ontario Association of Child & Youth Counsellors. With over ten years experience in the field, Sonia contributes a wide range of skills and experiences to SafeFutures. She has an exceptional ability to engage children, youth and parents in a positive way and offer them a youth worker perspective during presentations.

Sonia has worked extensively in group homes and open custody facilities with children and youth with severe behaviour difficulties or multi diagnosis. Within the residential field, she worked as a front line worker, one to one lifeskills coach and eventually worked as a supervisor overseeing diverse group home programs. Sonia has specialized in the development, implementation and management of pre-independence programs for youth and specified LifeSkills programs in a residential environment and in a homeless youth shelter.

Sonia has also spent many years as a CYW working with local school boards. Her experience working with groups, counselling, and behaviour management is comprehensive. Within this role, Sonia was able to develop outstanding facilitation and training skills aimed at reaching students, parents as well as teachers and other professionals. She opened private practise in Orangeville in order to fill an identified need for youth counselling and parenting workshops.

Through her work as an independent counsellor and facilitator, she has built positive relationships with agencies and community groups within Dufferin County and has worked with a variety of committees that share the goals of providing youth and/or parents with the resources they need to thrive.

In addition to her enthusiasm as a Child and Youth Worker, Sonia is a parent of two, a Pathfinder leader, an active board member and is very dedicated to her goals.

Scott Davis

Scott Davis has been a life long resident of the area and a police officer in Dufferin County for 13 years. He began his career with the Shelburne Police Service and joined the Orangeville Police Service in 2001. During his policing career, Scott has assumed many roles including Patrol Officer, Scenes Of Crime Officer, Domestic Violence Coordinator, Police Trainer / Facilitator, Drug Abuse Resistance Education Officer, School Resource Officer and Community Resource Officer.

Presently, Constable Davis is the Community Services and Media Relations Officer for the Orangeville Police. Through this role, Scott has developed a niche for public speaking and has delivered numerous presentations and keynote addresses on a wide variety of topics relating to safety and crime prevention. In addition, Scott also serves as a consultant and police liaison with many community groups and organizations. Scott has been a grateful recipient of many accolades and commendations for his work in the community.
In 2007, Scott accepted a position as an Academic Professor at the Orangeville Campus of Humber College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning. He currently teaches second year students in the Police Foundations program.

In addition, Scott is a dedicated and loving father to four children ranging in age from 11 to 18 years.
